HEBER VALLEY
Welcome to Heber Valley, Utah
Visiting the picturesque Heber Valley is the perfect way to enjoy one of Mother Nature’s favorite destinations. Only 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport and mere minutes from the world-renowned Deer Valley Resort and Sundance Mountain Resort, Heber Valley boasts three expansive state parks, an Olympic venue, historic tourism railroad, 90 holes of stunning mountain golf, and a quaint Swiss-influenced town. Oh, and did we mention dining and lodging? The Heber Valley is home to outstanding dining options that are the perfect complement to the surrounding mountain vistas. This alpine town offers a variety of comfortable hotels, world-class resorts, welcoming bed-and-breakfast options, idyllic RV resorts, and premier camping sites.
Heber Valley provides some of the world’s greatest access to winter sports and recreation — all set amid the inimitable and awe-inspiring snowy peaks that Utah is famous for. In winter, abundant snowfall makes this a mecca for winter recreation, with its mountains boasting the “Greatest Snow on Earth.” And Midway is located nearly equidistant from two world-renowned resorts — Sundance Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort. Guests staying in Midway can be on the slopes within 20 minutes or less. Aside from downhill skiing, winter seasons bring opportunities to snowmobile, snowshoe, cross-country ski, snow tubing, dog sledding, and lots of other fun activities in Heber Valley. Read on to get some suggestions on how to spend a free winter day in Midway. Or check out these pre-built full-day itineraries!
When you think of skiing in the Alps, Alpine skiing probably comes to mind. However, Nordic skiing is the original and oldest form of the sport that originated in Europe hundreds of years ago. This activity is a fantastic way to be outside, explore the majestic natural spaces, and get a great overall workout. And there’s no better place to enjoy cross-country skiing than at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. Known as an Olympic venue that hosted 23 events during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, Soldier Hollow offers world-class Nordic skiing, including individual and group lessons and equipment rentals, along with snow tubing down the longest lanes in Utah, and an Olympic Biathlon course that is open to the public. Enjoy the morning here, appreciating the breathtaking outdoors while participating in all the activities you can based on your interests and skill level. And plan a return visit to mountain bike in the summer on the same trails you ski in the winter or play a round of golf on one of the two 18-hole courses.
